The strap of a watch may not be as important as the timepiece itself, but nevertheless is important. Different timepieces fit with different straps. I just think that a NATO on a really nice watch kind of ruins it. Nice watches like Rolex aren't just about functionality, they are also meant to look nice, and NATOs just ruin them.
My nato strap saved my watch twice prevent from hitting the ground and could end worse. The nato strap is cheaper, durable and very comfortable to wear and of course it can save your watch anytime. On thicker watches, the double strap layer also isn't great.
